A very lovely happy wave is flowing through the whole family, as she is born. The family has a remarkable affectionate attention towards her. She is the star of the eyes of her parents. With so much care and love she grows up. Her innocent smile melts the anger. Her nonstop chattering feels more pleasant than her silence. She is the princess of the family. Her never ending competitions with her brother for chocolates, sweets, toys are full of innocence. Her laugh, her cry, her anger, her chatter everything, in other words she is the life of the house.
After certain years, she has to go to her work place (in-laws’ house). Her parents have arranged a grand ceremony for her wedding. With love and so many blessings they finally give a very emotional farewell to her.
After this marriage, the daughter is no more a family member. Rather she is believed as a very close relative of the family.
RELATIVE?!!?!!?!! What does it mean? A daughter now become a relative of the same family in which she was born and brought up, just after a single day. She is invited to her old family as a relative, treated as a guest. No cent percent rights to take any decision regarding family matters as the son has.
No matter how many times you try to refuse this, but in some where you cannot deny this.
Any ways, she is now a bride a new member of another family. She is formally accepted by everyone and treated lovingly. But still there is some believes among the elders that she is an outsider, daughter of someone else. Though there is a balance of love and affection, but still she is not completely accepted as a pure family member.
By the time, she has her living shadow, her own baby. She becomes the synonym of care, affection and unconditional love. She forgets herself to take care of her children.
The bride, the daughter-in-law is now a mother herself. Still at some points she is treated as an outsider. For example, if there is a situation to support between ‘son and daughter-in-law’ or ‘daughter and daughter-in-law’, she is treated as an outsider, whatever the matter may be.
This mentality continues till she became a mother-in-law herself.
WHY??? Why a girl cannot be accepted completely in a family?? Is she a thing, which is transferred from one hand to another??? For her parents she became a relative and for the in-laws she is an outsider.
Though our society is on a track of modernization, but in some place we are stroked by these kinds of thinking.
